1.   The lack of verification by a broker regarding the condition of the yacht.  This is not a problem for the yacht buyer.  When buying a used yacht brokers never make representations or warranties regarding condition.  The buyer normally hires two “surveyors,” one for the hull and one for the engine.  The surveyors do a complete inspection, even hauling the yacht out to verify the integrity of the hull.  There is a sea-trial to test operating systems, and fluids are drained from the engines and transmissions and analyzed.  That is the same whether the boat is bought from the owner or through a broker.

2.  Complexities of passing good title.  There are attorneys who specialize in this, and it is not an expensive process.  We have a list of attorneys who specialize in this and we even offer to reimburse these expenses to the yacht seller.

3.   The hassle of having to show the yacht etc.  We have found that many owners of luxury yachts have Captains that can do that for them.  If they don’t have a captain they probably won’t mind showing the boat.  There is a certain amount of satisfaction in showing a well-kept yacht.
